The Lord gives the word [of power]; the women who bear and publish [the news] are a great host. Psalms 68:11 amp
"I started writing short stories and essays in school. I even had a few of them published in the local newspaper. But it wasn't until I wrote my first poem that I absolutely knew that no matter what I did in life, it must include writing; it must include creative writing." Benita K. Brown

Welcome to my website. I am excited to share with you the good news of my third book entitled "Look to the Hills" (poetic reflections of mom). This personal book of poems details my journey in experiencing the life, love and passing of my dear mother. I hope to encourage others who are dealing with the process of loss and grief and send a message of healing through reflecting on the memories of their loved one. I desire to honor my mother through reflecting on her life and her wisdom that she imparted in me, and I can only hope that her life continues to speak to others.

Also check out my second book, "My Life; God's Way", which is a daily devotional taken from my personal study time and meditation in the Bible (Amplified Bible). It is a book of daily instructions to help guide you through out your life choices. I wrote the book in a simple format so that anyone could easily apply the messages to his or her life. Furthermore, the book is designed to allow the reader to search the scriptures for a deeper, more personal understanding. I believe that "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13). One of the ways I am strengthened is by meditating on God's Word. I encourage you to begin each day in the Word of God and watch your life transform as you renew your mind. You will gain the life God wants you to live; welcome to "My Life, God's Way."

Don't forget to check out my first book entitled "If I Had a Million Dollars and other spiritual poems." This book will encourage you to search deep within yourself and find that true gift that you can share with others. You will learn how to listen to that inner voice as you find your passion and pursue it. Also, this book will serve as a reminder to you that no matter what obstacles you may face, you can still do what ever it is that you desire to do. Afterall, what you are in search of, you already possess.
"Standing on the Promises"
Are you standing on the promises of God? When all else fails and your life seems odd, do you know what your future holds? Are you able to trust God like ole Job? Can you offer praise the way David did? Even though it's been weeks since you've seen your kids? The bills are unpaid, and the ends don't meet, but through it all will you bend your knees? Will you be stead fast and unmovable the way the Israelites did thousands of years ago? Are you excited about God, to everyone you tell, or are you like Jonah, in the belly of the whale? Do you realize El Shaddai, God Almighty, still exists? Don't you want to be on the Tree of Life's list? Then step out on faith and open your heart. And He'll birth you again because He loves you a lot. (Excerpt from the book "If I Had a Million Dollars and other spiritual poems.")

"...From time to time when I have things on my mind..., I'll reach over, pick it up and just turn to a random page. So far, every time that has happened, I'll find myself nodding my head in agreement or having an "ah-ha" moment at the end of a reading. Then I randomly turn to another page and another and do the same." --Dr. Philippa Rhodes, Raleigh, NC
